Cain Velasquez is a UFC fighter, standing 6’1″ (185cm) tall and weighting 243lbs (110kg), born on 28th of July 1982, in Salinas, California.
Fighting Brad Morris at UFC 83 Cain Velasquez made his debut winning with strikes in the first round.
Jake O’Brien was the next defeatead by Velasquez during UFC Fight Night 14 by TKO in first round.
Velasquez face Denis Stojnic and defeatead him with TKO also in the first round of the UFC Fight Night 17.
Next on Velasquez career path, he faced established UFC heavyweight Cheick Kongo and again he dominated, landing 251 strikes. The victory was a unanimous decision.
Velasquez next fight was scheduled to be with Shane Carwin the number one contender for the UFC Heavyweight Championship held by Brock Lesnar. Instead of Shane, the fight was with Ben Rothwell at UFC 104. Velasquez scored 7-0, defeating Ben Rothwell at UFC 104 by TKO at 0:58 of round 2.
On February 20, 2010 at UFC 110, Velasquez faced former Pride Heavyweight Champion and former UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira. Dana White promised the winner a shot at the UFC Heavyweight Title after Brock Lesnar and Shane Carvin’s fight.
Despite the media, who was betting on Nogueira due to a supposed lack of striking power for Velasquez, Velasquez defeatead Nogueira via knockout at 2:20 of round one. Doing this Velasquez became the first man to defeat Nogueira by way of legitimate knockout as opposed to TKO.
Velsquez will defend, as has been officially announced, the title against undefeated top contender Brock Lesnar Velasquez on October 23, 2010 at the Honda Centerin Anaheim, California at UFC 121.
